Looking at Morels  — To kick off morel season, we’ve asked Britain Morin to share his wide-ranging morel knowledge at our May general meeting. That’s Thursday, May 11. 

The hybrid meeting will be held in person at our new location, the Rotunda at Olympic College Bremerton, and via Zoom. The meeting starts at 7 and he’ll start speaking around 7:15 or 7:30.

Britain is a go-to guy if you want to identify a morel species based on where you found it and what it looks like — without having to resort to a microscope. He’s involved with the Western Montana Mycological Society and helps administer dozens of Facebook mushroom groups. He credits his knowledge to the years he spent trying (with some success) to grow morels indoors. 

He also helps run a FB group that provides emergency identification of possibly poisonous mushrooms and plants — a service of huge use to parents and pet owners.
